A 17-year-old Colorado boy owns a landscaping company called Green Worx. RJ Duarte now has 14 full-time employees and is learning the challenges of being a small business owner.
“The hardest part about being a business owner is there’s never a set schedule, you’re the last to get paid, you take care of everyone before yourself,” the teen business owner says. “Another struggle we have is being so young — financial institutions, insurance companies don’t take me seriously.”
He recently graduated high school, and is headed off to college this fall, so will have a new challenge of running a business from afar.
