Rising Innovator, a website that provides resources for young entrepreneurs and their mentors, is pleased to announce that Maxx Yung of Roslyn, New York, is the winner of our $500 Rising Innovator Scholarship at University of Pennsylvania, where he will be enrolling in the fall.
“We received more than 150 applicants for the scholarship so this is a great achievement for Maxx,” said Rising Innovator President Marc Seldin. “His well-written essay about his badminton racket business gave him the edge over many qualified candidates.”
Applicants were asked to write about what entrepreneurship meant to them. Maxx wrote about his initial entrepreneurial attempts and then his current business stringing badminton rackets at an affordable price. (His essay “Entrepreneurship is about selling a passion” can be viewed here.)
Applicants’ essays and bios were ranked by a three-judge panel from Rising Innovator.
This is the second scholarship to be offered by Rising Innovator and is a way for Rising Innovator to give back to the community. Our goal with this scholarship is to help a student with entrepreneurial aspirations.
We plan to re-open the scholarship application for the 2023-2024 school year in the coming months.
